The title of docent awarded to the director of Museum of Torne Valley

The University of Oulu has granted Titta Kallio-Seppä, Ph.D., M.Sc., director of the Museum of Torne Valley, the rank of docent on June 1, 2024. In the field of archaeology, the field of Kallio-Seppä’s docentship is in historical archaeology.

According to the definition of a docent at the University of Oulu, the rank of docent can be awarded to an academically meritorious person upon application. She/he must have thorough knowledge of his/her field, demonstrated ability for independent research work through publications or other means, and good teaching skills. The rank of docent is awarded to an applicant who, in addition to a dissertation, has published scientific studies and articles. In terms of scientific importance, quality and quantity, they must correspond to at least another good-level doctoral thesis.
