Raisa Raekallio & Misha del Val Lapin piha 13.12.2024–13.4.2025
Exhibition Lapin piha showcases the latest works created collaboratively by artists Raisa Raekallio and Misha del Val. In the paintings set in different seasons, the main focus is on the northern landscape, which has, in one way or another, been marked by human presence.
In their works, the artists highlight the beauty that arises from the paradoxical encounter between the delicate northern nature and the half-abandoned, rusting objects. A green tarpaulin forgotten in the forest, a wood splitter hidden among the pines, canisters and pallets lining the backyard, a dilapidated car buried under the snow – all these reveal one aspect of the coexistence between humans and nature
The artist duo from Kittilä Raisa Raekallio (s. 1978, Kittilä, Finland) ja Misha del Val (s. 1979, Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain) have been creating collaborative paintings, drawings, performance pieces, curatorial projects, and podcasts for over ten years.
The works by Raisa Raekallio and Misha del Val have been showcased at, among others, the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, the Rovaniemi Art Museum, the Kemi Art Museum, the Oulu Art Museum, the Turku Art Museum, Makasiini Contemporary, tm•gallery, Gallery Sculptor, Untitled Art Fair in Miami, and Espacio Marzana in Bilbao.
In 2023, Raisa Raekallio and Misha del Val were awarded the Visual Artist Prize by the Finnish Artists’ Association.
The exhibition Lapin piha is part of the Lapland Artists’ Association’s Hallaa project. The exhibition has received support from the Finnish Heritage Agency
