The exhibition FOKUS: Marjo Talvensaari will open on December 5, 2024, as part of the celebration of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Aine Art Museum aims to support and promote artists with disabilities and advocate for the rights of people with disabilities to access art and cultural services.
The colorful exhibition showcases Marjo Talvensaari’s works from 2022–2024.
Marjo Talvensaari creates her pieces using felt-tip pens on paper, carefully filling even the smallest corners of the white surface. There is a lot happening in Marjo Talvensaari’s works. The artist warmly addresses current topics that intertwine seamlessly with their personal interests.
Marjo Talvensaari’s pieces feature underwater fish, a bespectacled sun, pizza, and Queen Elizabeth. In Marjo Talvensaari’s drawings, the world feels whole, where everything and everyone has their rightful place and purpose.
Marjo Talvensaari (b. 1986) is an artist from Kemijärvi and a person with Down syndrome. She has been creating art since childhood. She studied painting at Lehtimäki College and graduated as a visual artisan from the visual expression program at Kaarisilta Special Education College in Villähde, Nastola. Her three-year studies concluded in 2010.
Marjo Talvensaari has participated in exhibitions in various venues, including Art Kaarisilta Gallery in Helsinki, The Snowball Effect 3 at Aine Art Museum, and several libraries and cultural centers. Marjo Talvensari received an honorary mention at the Kaarisilta Biennale in 2013 and is a member of the Lapland Artists’ Association.
